Sailing_Day

the start of my project.

Sailing Day is a single-player 2D boat-racing/Roleplaying game for the Love2D engine. Taking place in a small but lively fishing town, the player can challenge courses, explore other islands, or build relationships.

Started December 2024, So far it has player motion and a camera object to follow the player. High priority locations: Race courses, town area, open ocean, player's home. Game mechanics: controlling a boat, random island generation, day/night cycle limits actions taken per day. Fun things: equippable items to hinder other racers.

Timeline: Event Budget
Class time 30 hours
Homework 105 hours
BREAK 5 hours
Deadline -9 hours
~133 hours

Dates: Feb 11 (Tue) Market? March 13 (Thur) Involvement? April 10 (Thur) Portfolio. May 1 (Thur) Project Due. May 6 (Tue) Showcase.

Goal number 1: make key movement exclusive, one direction motion at a time until release.

goal completed on 04/12/2024, Good Job, me.

Goal numer 2: make a camera that follows Player to the edges of Background, without leaving the edge of either sprite.

Camera works! 09/12/2024. End goal 2.

Goal 3: add an object with collisions, make it do something.
